Altea, one of the most beautiful towns on the Costa Blanca, is known worldwide for its picturesque old town and its iconic church with blue domes. What fewer people know is that this atmospheric coastal town also has a surprisingly diverse range of beaches and intimate coves to offer. Along the promenade and tucked between the harbors, you will find several options for a day by the sea.

1. Playa Mascarat
Playa Mascarat is a stone beach and it is located between the historic landmark La Barret and the port in Mascarat, Marina Greenwich.
The beach has a small beach bar and beds to rent. The adjacent port is easily accessible, and part is accessed by a lever. If you use the catering facilities, parking is free.
Here you will find the restaurants Bay Club and Saltea, among others.
2. Playa de la Solsida
Further to the southern part of Altea, Playa de la Solsida is the next beach. This is a quiet pebble beach next to the port Puerto Senso and the unusual Portosenso Bar. You will also find a Jet Ski rental here.
Water shoes are highly recommended due to the pebbles, especially for children. The beach attracts both families and naturists; there is plenty of parking but the access road can be challenging.
3. Playa para Perros
Playa para Perros in Altea is a pebble beach especially for dogs, where it is often quiet.
Although the water is generally clear, the amount of seaweed and the minimal facilities are cited as disadvantages. For dog owners, however, it remains a popular place to enjoy the sea together. The beach is easily accessible with plenty of free parking.
4. Playa de l'Olla
Playa de l'Olla in Altea is a quiet pebble beach with good walking and beautiful views of an islet called Illa de l'Olla.
Nearby you will find the Olla Beach Bar and café Sant. On the beach there are 2 chiringuitos: chiringuito El Sigarro and chiringuito El Cranc, between these two beach bars there are old boats and fishing equipment. Please note that parking is limited.
5. Playa del Cap Negret
Playa del Cap Negret in Altea is a vast and quiet pebble and gravel beach with beautiful views. It is located between the Cap Negret hotel of the same name and the outlet of the Algar River.
The water is usually clear, but accessing and leaving the sea can be tricky due to large rocks and waves, so water shoes are recommended.
6. Playa de l'Espigó 🔷
Platja de l'Espigó is Altea's largest pebble beach, named after the stone breakwater. It has a length of about 500 meters and it offers a calm atmosphere with clear waters and panoramic views of the Mediterranean Sea.
A small part of Playa de l'Espigó is located on the new El Bol promenade. At the end of this beach (toward the mouth of the Algar River) you will find a chiringuito called Nova Beach Bar.
7. Playa El Bol
Playa el Bol is a pebble and stone beach equipped with beds and a public toilet. Along the narrow stretch you will find 6 viewing bastions where you can enjoy the view.
Parallel to the beach and beyond is Altea's promenade, completely renovated in 2021. Where, in addition to the panoramic views, you will find many restaurants and bars.
8. Playa de la Roda 🔷
Playa de la Roda is the southernmost beach in Altea. It is an extension of Playa el Bol, right next to the large port Puerto Deportivo de Altea.
This beach is also equipped with beds. Parallel to it is a promenade where people walk a lot. The trees provide plenty of shade. Along this promenade is a playground with basketball court that will be renewed in 2025.

9. Cala del Racó del Corb (Mascarat).
Cala del Racó del Corb in Altea is an adventurous, quiet cove with a beautiful pebbly beach and crystal clear waters, ideal for snorkeling and freediving. Access is via a steep, rocky path of 100-200 meters, for which sturdy footwear is essential.
Despite the challenging trek, the bay is a hidden gem for nature lovers who want to avoid the crowds. Parking is usually available nearby, but space on the beach is limited and there is little shade. It is a unique spot that is well worth a visit for those prepared for the hike.
10. Cala Barra Gran (Mascarat).
Cala Barra Gran at Mascarat in Altea is a quiet and beautiful pebbly bay with crystal clear waters, perfect for snorkeling. Access requires sturdy footwear due to a steep, rocky path with a supporting chain.
From noon, the right side of the beach offers wonderful natural shade. This cove is a hidden gem for those who avoid the crowds and seek unspoiled nature. All in all, it is highly recommended for adventurous beachgoers who are prepared for access.
11. Cala Mascarat (Mascarat Beach).
Cala Mascarat is located between Marina Greenwich and Punta del Mascarat. This beach is also listed on the map as Patja Mascarat or Mascarat Beach, however, it is more of a cala than a beach.
Whereas most calas are not long in terms of length, Cala Mascarat has a length of 200 meters. At the beginning of the beach is located chiringuito Nova Cala and on the other side a part of the beach is also used as a naturist beach used.
