Calpe, one of the most famous places on the Costa Blanca, is known for its impressive Peñón de Ifach. This rock divides the coastline, creating a varied landscape of beaches and coves. You will find three extensive sandy beaches and some five smaller calas. This natural variation, partly formed by the jagged coast around the Peñón, offers an ideal spot for every beach lover.

1. Playa de la Fossa 🔷.

Playa de la Fossa in Calpe is a wide and extensive sandy beach with clear waters and stunning views of the Peñón de Ifach. Along the promenade you will find a diverse range of restaurants, bars and stores.

The beach is cleaned regularly, which adds to the pleasant experience. You can stroll along the shoreline and enjoy the sun and the view. Despite its popularity, there is often plenty of space, even during busy periods.

2. Playa del Cantal Roig 🔷.

Playa del Cantal Roig in Calpe is a beautiful sandy beach, characterized by its flat and gradual slope into the sea, making it ideal for families with children. Along the beach runs a pleasant promenade with several eateries and stores in the immediate vicinity.

From the beach you can enjoy beautiful panoramic views, including the harbor with yachts and fishing boats, and the imposing Peñón de Ifach in the background. It is a suitable place for both sunbathers and water sports enthusiasts who prefer a quieter atmosphere.

3. Playa del Arenal-Bol 🔷

Playa del Arenal-Bol is Calpe's largest and most central beach, known for its vast expanse of sand and its magnificent views of the Peñón de Ifach.

The wide, vehicle-free boardwalk along the beach offers plenty of space for leisurely strolls. You will find several restaurants and bars here. The soft sand and gently sloping, clear waters make this beach very suitable for families with children.

4. Cala del Mallorquí

Cala del Mallorquí is a small, quiet cove in Calpe known for its clear, crystal-clear waters and marine life, making it an excellent location for snorkeling. The cove has a limited sandy surface and consists mainly of rocks.

Although the official access via stairs is sometimes closed due to maintenance, the bay can be reached by walking paths along the shore. It is a secluded spot that is perfect for those who seek tranquility and want to enjoy the underwater world away from the crowds.

5. Cala la Calalga

Cala la Calalga in Calpe is a smaller cove that offers a quiet alternative to the busier beaches. This partly sandy and partly rocky beach is known for its crystal clear waters, making it ideal for snorkeling and exploring the underwater world.

The cove is easily accessed by stairs or a slope and offers beautiful views of the surrounding area, including vistas toward Moraira. Although the beach is compact, it is rarely crowded, and the calm sea makes it a fine place to swim and relax.

6. Cala la Manzanera

Cala La Manzanera is a unique cove in Calpe, best known for its proximity to Ricardo Bofill's iconic architectural structures, such as the Muralla Roja and Xanadú.

Although the buildings themselves are private, a walking path along the shore offers beautiful views of this unusual architecture and the sea. The beach itself is a mix of sand and stones, and is known for its clear waters, making it a convenient place for swimming and snorkeling and spotting a variety of fish.

7. Cala les Urques

Cala les Urques is a pebbly beach in Calpe known as one of the few places where dogs are allowed. The beach is characterized by a rocky surface, both on the beach itself and in the water.

Access to the bay is via a series of steep steps, which requires some physical fitness. Although the natural setting and peaceful atmosphere can be attractive, the many rocks make it less comfortable for both humans and dogs. Water shoes are recommended for visiting Cala Les Urques.
