Who is the entrepreneur Marly?
Hi, I am Marly van Gennip (29). For 13 years I have been with Erik, and together we have two beautiful daughters, Syll and Gaby. We live in Aarle-Rixtel, North Brabant. I am enthusiastic, very eager to learn and a real connector with people.
In addition, I am a dreamer and a hard worker. For 10 years I have been self-employed, and I am not afraid to pursue my dreams. I always act from passion and work very hard to achieve my goals, exactly as I envision it.
What is your connection to the Costa Blanca?
Last year we purchased real estate in San Miguel de Salinas (Alicante), called Sueno, for rental and to enjoy by ourselves with our family. While I was there, I felt that I really wanted to do something with this. Therefore, I decided to quit my previous business and fully immerse myself in real estate in Spain.
What are you currently doing as an entrepreneur?
As an experience expert, I personally guide people 1-to-1 in realizing their dream home in Spain. I stay in close contact with my clients and share my knowledge and experience from A to Z. I work together with Gold Estates. After the purchase of a property I guide these people further with aftersales.
What does the average work week look like for you?
I schedule meetings with people when it is convenient for both parties, both at home and online. This can be during the day or in the evening. I also create content about the Costa Blanca to show how beautiful this region is and why it is wonderful to vacation here. I also show what great real estate investment opportunities there are.
How do you build your network on the Costa Blanca and get new clients?
I work with a content creator in Spain who captures moments when I’m not there. I also engage a lot with people who already have a house in Spain or want to buy one. I visit a lot of fairs and accompany clients from the Gold Estates network. Follow all my adventures in Spain, the developments of our apartment, hotspots and my real estate guidance on Instagram under the name @marlyvgennip.
What is your biggest challenge and how do you deal with it?
My biggest challenge is work-life balance. I have two daughters, ages 3.5 and 2, who are not yet in school, which means time management is crucial.
As an entrepreneur, you have to invest a lot of time to be successful. In addition, real estate transactions often take a while to complete, sometimes leaving you without income for long periods of time.
What are your ambitions as an entrepreneur?
My ambition is to guide people in an honest and personal way so that they trust me. Eventually I think it would be great to give tours myself in Spain.
In addition, I want to inspire women with my story and show why independence, even for women and mothers, is so important.

Do you have any tips for (starting) entrepreneurs on the Costa Blanca?
Listen to your intuition and passion, and don’t give up until you achieve what you are looking for, even if it seems unattainable. I believe anything is possible if you work hard and can dream. Network actively, be enthusiastic and help others whenever possible.
What are your personal ambitions?
Above all, I want to be happy and do fun things with my family, family and friends. I want to engage in things that make me happy, both personally and professionally.
What do you prefer to do in your free time?
Biking with our family, outings, swimming, going to the playground with a terrace, eating out, listening to podcasts, sometimes going crazy at a festival, sunbathing and reading books.
What places must you absolutely have visited on the Costa Blanca?
I find the Costa Blanca incredibly beautiful because it is very versatile. There is all kinds of things for young and old to do to have a super nice vacation or to live.
