Fireworks from the sea
Altea’s fireworks are not just another show. It is a unique experience that draws you into a whirlwind of colors, lights and sound. The fireworks are set off from several floating platforms at sea. For safety, the platforms are anchored underwater. The reflections of the fireworks are visible in the water at night, creating unique images.
Tradition since 1986
The tradition of fireworks in Altea goes back more than 35 years. Fireworks were first set off in 1986. The origins of the festival lie with Blas Aznar, a famous local pyrotechnician. After his death, the community decided to pay tribute to him with a fireworks show.
Over the years, the festival has changed and become bigger and bigger: nowadays, the show includes choreographed music. Over the years, it has become one of the city’s main tourist attractions.
Awards for fireworks show
Castell de l’Olla was recognized in 1999 with the Tourism Merit distinction, in the gold category, awarded by the Provincial Tourism Office of the Costa Blanca. In 2017, the fireworks show was named Festival of Festival of Tourist Interest of the Comunitat by the Community of Valenciana.
