What to do in Guadalest? Activities, things to do
1. Take a walk
Park your car at one of the Aparcaments at the bottom of Guadalest and walk from there toward the historic viewpoint. It is a short but slightly strenuous walk due to the amount of stairs up. You then walk through a small tunnel after which you emerge at Plaza San Gregorio. Here you will be rewarded with a beautiful view of the valley;
2. Visit the church
Visit the Church of Our Lady of the Redemption(Església de l’Assumpció) built in the 18th century. The church is an important religious and architectural monument in Guadalest. It is known for its baroque façade and impressive bell tower;
3. Visit the reservoir of Guadalest
Embalse de Guadalest also known as the reservoir of Beniardá, is located just outside the village and is surrounded by beautiful nature. It is a popular place to enjoy the peace and scenery, and there are opportunities for hiking and picnicking in the area;
4. View and reservoir from viewpoint Panoràmica
At this spot you will find a relatively new observation deck. Please note the place is not easily accessible by car.
5. A day out near El Castell de Guadalest
- Walk along the Algar waterfalls and take a refreshing dip: the Algar waterfalls are a popular destination for day trips. Located about a 60-minute drive from Alicante, the waterfalls offer refreshing baths and a beautiful walk through nature:
- Polop: (a 15-minute drive away) explore the picturesque village of Polop, with its medieval castle ruins and colorful houses. Hike to the top of the hill for panoramic views of the surrounding area;
- Benidorm: (a 30-minute drive away) experience the lively seaside town of Benidorm, with its long sandy beaches and bustling promenade. Enjoy the many stores, restaurants and entertainment venues, or visit one of the theme parks nearby;
- Albir & Altea: (a 30-minute drive away) combine a visit to Albir with, by extension, Altea. Start in Albir with a walk along the beautiful promenade and a visit to the Faro del Albir(the Albir lighthouse) for stunning views. Then drive (or walk) on to Altea and get lost in the white streets of the old town, admiring the iconic blue dome of the church and visiting the many art galleries. Or stay on the coast and stroll along the new El Bol promenade.

What to do in Guadalest? Visit a museum
1. Urban Museum Casa Orduña
This museum rose from the ashes after earthquake in 1644. Built by Orduña family, loyalists to Marquises of Guadalest. Rebuilt after fire in 1708 and acquired noble status. Museum now displays rich history of town and family;
2. Museo Belén y Casitas de Muñecas
Featuring the artistic work of Antonio Marco, consisting of dollhouses, an ecological nativity scene and antique toys;
3. Historic Vehicle Collection Museum
Dive into mobility history with 140 gleaming motorcycles and mopeds from the 1920s to the 1970s. Admire the collection in a magnificent 500-square-meter hall surrounded by antique objects. A must for lovers of nostalgia and technology;
4. Microminiature Museum
Admire tiny masterpieces such as the Statue of Liberty in the eye of a needle and a bullfighting flea. Artist Manuel Ussá creates wondrous miniature art on rice grains & fly wings, among others;
5. Salt and pepper shaker museum
There are two such museums in the world, one in Tennessee, United States and the other in El Castell de Guadalest. The museum consists of more than 20,000 original pieces from all over the world, many of which come from antique dealers, there are pieces on display from the year 1800 to the present;
6. Ethnological Museum
Delve into the rich past of the Vall de Guadalest at this 18th-century house on the rock. Discover traditional customs and crafts through information panels, brochures and objects;
7. Medieval History Museum
A building with a basement, three floors and more than seventy pieces or instruments of torture and capital punishment;
8. Microreuse Museum
Admire Manuel Ussá’s unimaginable creations, such as an arena on a pin point, a Bible made of hair, a miniature cycling flea and a self-portrait in a grain of sand.
