In this blog an overview of weekly markets on the Costa Blanca. The weekly markets are named by town.

Albir weekly market

The Mercadillo El Albir is a popular weekly market held every Sunday in the large parking lot on Avenida del Albir.

At this market, consisting of more than 100 stalls, you will find a variety of products, from fresh local fruits and vegetables to clothing, handicrafts and souvenirs. This market in Albir is open on Sundays from 08:00 to 15:00.

Weekly market Alicante

The Mercado Central in Alicante is a lively covered market in the heart of the city, where you can taste the authentic Spanish atmosphere. In this beautiful building you will find a wide range of fresh produce, from fruits and vegetables to freshly caught fish and meat. There are also numerous stalls selling local specialties, such as olive oil, cheeses and Spanish ham.

This market in Alicante is located on Avenida Alfonso el Sabio (number 10) and is open Monday through Friday from 07:00 to 14:30. On Saturdays and holidays, you can visit it from 07:00 to 15:00.

The Mercadillo Teulada near the stadium of Hercules Alicante soccer club. This is a general, large, uncovered market in a parking lot. This market in Alicante is held on Thursdays and Saturdays from approximately 08:00 to 14:00.

Altea weekly market

The Mercadillo de Altea is held in the large parking lot on the Cami de l’Algar. At this extensive market in Altea, located near the sports center, you will find a wide variety of stalls selling clothes, bags, shoes and, of course, all kinds of food. This weekly market in Altea is held every Tuesday from 08:00 to 14:00.

Weekly market Benidorm

The Mercadillo Benidorm Levante is the large (flea) market in Benidorm. This market consists of many stalls and is held outside the center of Benidorm on the Avenida de L’Admirall Bernat de Sarrià. This market is held on Wednesdays and Sundays and is open from 09:00 to 14:00.

The Mercadillo Foietes is a market just outside the center of Benidorm, near the Benidorm train station on Av. de la Libertad in a large parking lot. This market is held on Wednesdays and is open from 08:00 to 14:00.

The El Cisne weekly market near Benidorm is a small but cozy flea and antique market. This covered market with terraces is less than 10 minutes from the center of Benidorm. You can park in the adjacent parking lot. This market is held on Thursday, Saturday and Sunday and is open from 10:00 to 14:00.

Weekly market Benissa

To the market on Saturday: the market in Benissa is not held in one common place, but in two different places in the center. The stalls with fresh fruits and vegetables are in the parking lot on Av. la Constitución. The stalls selling clothes can be found on the C/ Sant Nicolau. These markets are open from 08:00 to 14:00.

Calpe weekly market

The Mercadillo Frutas y Verduras de Calpe consists of stalls selling fresh fruits and vegetables. This market is located near the traffic circle as you enter Calpe from the Altea side on Avenida del Norte and Avenida Puerto de Santa María. This market is held on Saturdays from about 8:00 am to 2:00 pm.

The flea market on Avenida País Valencià, near the Municipal de Deportes, the municipal sports center. This market is held on Wednesdays from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Saturday flea market, on the Av. de Rumania, the road that runs parallel to the main street in Calpe. The market is held in the parking lot opposite the Lidl.

Dénia weekly market

The Mercadillo de los Lunes is a very large market in a large parking lot just below Parc de Torrecremada. The market consists of many large and varied stalls. You can mainly go here for (second-hand) clothes. This market is held on Mondays from 08:00 to 15:00. You can park nearby for free.

Every Friday you can go to Mercadilo Viernes Dénia, the market in the center of town. The range of stalls selling fresh fruits and vegetables is huge. This market is known for its affordable prices and good quality.

Elche weekly market

The Mercado Plaza de Barcelona is a large indoor market in Elche. The stalls selling fresh vegetables, fruits and other food are spread over two floors. A wide assortment at affordable prices.

You will find this market at the large traffic circle at Plaza de Barcelona. The market is open daily (except Sundays) from 07:00 to 14:30. On Fridays, the market is also open in the evening from 19:00 to 21:00.

Weekly market Guadalest

You will not find a real weekly market in Guadalest. The village is simply too small for that. The same goes for the presence of supermarkets. However. there are certainly opportunities to score nice local products.

In Guadalest itself you will find many small stores selling handmade souvenirs, local honey, olive oil, wine and other artisan products. Mostly family-run businesses that proudly offer their wares.

Weekly market Jalón

In Jalón (Xaló) every Saturday you will find two markets that together form a major attraction:

  • The Rastro (antiques and flea market): this is one of the most famous markets in the region, located along the riverbed. Here you will find a mix of antiques, bric-a-brac, curios and souvenirs. The market is known for the relatively high standard of items offered;

  • The Mercat de la Terra (Farmers’ and Crafts Market): this market focuses on local gastronomy and craft products. You will find it at the entrance to the village (near the Masymas supermarket). In addition to stalls selling local products, there are often additional activities:

    • 1st Saturday of the month: children’s program in the Plaza Mayor;

    • 2nd Saturday: guided tours from the Ethnological Museum (by reservation);

    • 3rd Saturday: music performances in the Plaza Mayor;

    • last Saturday: tastings or culinary workshops at the museum.

Both markets are held from 09:00 to 14:00 (in the summer months, the Mercat de la Terra sometimes moves to the evening hours due to the heat).

Jávea weekly market

The Mercat Municipal de Xàbia is a market on the edge of the center of Jávea, right next to Parc de Montaner on the Plaza de la Constitución. The market consists of about 130 stalls with a variety of offerings; from fresh fruits and vegetables to clothing and local products. You can park here in the underground parking lot Parking Plaza de la Constitución. This market is held on Thursdays from 08:00 to 14:00.

The Feria de Artesanía de Autor is an annual summer market on the beach and boulevard of Jávea. From the end of June to the beginning of September, you can go here daily from 7:30 PM to midnight. The rest of the year, a smaller version of the market is set up on Saturdays and/or Sundays. This is then open from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM.

Moraira weekly market

The‘Friday Market‘ in Moraira can be found in the large parking lot behind the sports fields. It is a cozy market with over a hundred stalls where you can find everything: fresh fruits and vegetables, clothes, shoes, bags, souvenirs, local products and much more. This market is held weekly on Fridays from 09:00 to 13:30.

In addition, in the evening you can go to a smaller market among the palm trees on Aveniguda de la Paz, the street in the extension of Castell de Moraira. This market is held daily from 18:00 to 23:00.

Weekly market Pilar de la Horadada

Every Friday you can go to the Mercadillo Viernes mañana, or early fresh produce market. This market is held on the outskirts of Pilar de la Horadada along the main street (C. Mayor). This market also has stalls where you can buy clothes. This market is held on Fridays from 08:00 to 14:00.

In addition, you can also go to the flea market in Pilar de la Horadada. This market called Mercadillo del Toro is held outside the center along the AP-7 on 1 of the vacant lots. This market is held weekly on Sundays.

Santa Pola weekly market

You can go to the market in Santa Pola on Saturdays and Mondays. On Saturdays, the market consists of stalls selling fresh vegetables, fruits and other food. This market is held on Saturday and Monday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

On Mondays at the same location you will find the Mercadillo ambulante de Santa Pola, a real “flea market” with clothes, shoes and household items. This market is also held on Saturdays and Mondays from 08:00 to 14:00.

Torrevieja weekly market

The Mercadillo de Torrevieja is one of the largest markets in Spain. This market consists of more than 1,000 stalls and is held in a large area near all the sports fields in Torrevieja. You can go there for everything, think of clothes, souvenirs, but also fresh fruits and vegetables. This market is held on Fridays from 07:00 to 14:00.

Weekly market Villajoyosa

The Mercat Municipal la Villa Joiosa is held in the large parking lot on Avenida Carlos Llorca i Baus in the northern part of Villajoyosa. At this extensive market in Villajoyosa, you will find a wide variety of stalls selling clothes, bags, shoes and food items such as fresh fruits and vegetables. You can go to this market on Thursdays from 08:00 to 14:00.

You can also go to the covered fresh market in Villajoyosa, which is located a few minutes from the beach and near the riverbed Río Amadorio. This market is open daily (except Sundays) from 07:30 to 14:00.
