Visit the beaches near Pilarde la Horadada: the beaches are named in order from north to south. Blue flag beaches are designated with a blue 🔷 sign:

  • Playa de Jesuitas🔷: This beach is known for its golden sand and clear blue waters. It is popular for its pleasant atmosphere and proximity to amenities;
  • Playa del Conde🔷: another beach with fine sand and calm waters, Playa del Conde is a favorite spot for locals and tourists alike. It has a relaxing atmosphere and offers space to sunbathe and enjoy the sea;

3. Visit Parque Natural de las Salinas de San Pedro

  • To the Sunday market: you can also go to the flea market in Pilar de la Horadada. This market called Mercadillo del Toro is held outside the center along the AP-7 on 1 of the vacant lots.

The natural salt lakes in La Mata and Torrevieja (a 25-minute drive away) are an important ecological and tourist area. Here you can enjoy a walk, bird watching and admire the unique pink color of the water.

9. A day out in the surroundings of Pilar de la Horadada

  • Torre de la Horadada: directly adjacent to Pilar de la Horadada is the coastal town of Torre de la Horadada, with beautiful marina and various water sports facilities;
  • Torrevieja: (a 15-minute drive away) discover the vibrant city of Torrevieja, known for its salt lakes and bustling promenade. Visit the iconic salt lake Laguna Salada de Torrevieja, stroll through the marina, and enjoy the many stores and restaurants. Also explore the city’s various markets and cultural offerings;
  • Orihuela Costa: (a 15-minute drive away) visit Orihuela Costa, a place with many golf courses, shopping centers and entertainment venues. Visit popular beaches such as La Zenia and Cabo Roig;
  • Cartagena: (30-minute drive) Be amazed by the rich history of Cartagena, an ancient port city with impressive Roman remains. Visit the Roman theater, stroll through the historic downtown, and enjoy the view from the Castillo de la Concepción.

10. Visit the center of Pilar de la Horadada

This center is located around Plaza de la Iglesia which includes the church called Parroquia Nuestra Señora del Pilar. The plaza is located on the main street C. Mayor, you will find a handful of stores as well as restaurants and bars.

11. Stroll along the boardwalk

Pilar de la Horadada does not really have a boulevard; on the contrary, it has a promenade along the beach called Paseo Marítimo del Mojón.

12. View Parroquia Nuestra Señora del Pilar

This is modern church from 1981, built on the site of an older church, whose historic bell tower from 1899 remains. Dedicated to the patron saint Virgen del Pilar, the interior houses valuable sculptures, mainly by artist José María Sánchez Lozano, and plays a central role in local religious life. This church symbolizes both the renewal and historical continuity of the community.

13. Stroll through the park in Pilar de la Horadada

City Park La Rambla is a long, green park that follows a waterway through the city center. It is an important place where people come to relax and recreate. There are also smaller green areas that contribute to the livability of the city. These include the Parque Ramón Eugenio Escudero, Plaza Santo Domingo, the Parque 30 de Julio and the Parque Calle Hércules, each of which, in its own way, provides space for relaxation and play.

14. See the Torre de la Horadada

Built in the 16th century, this historic watchtower was once part of the coastal defense system against piracy. It now offers a historic atmosphere and stunning views of the coastline.
