1. To the beach in Torrevieja

Looking for sun, sea and sand? Torrevieja has something for everyone with its many kilometers of coastline. Playa del Cura is the centerpiece on the promenade, perfect for those who love conviviality and terraces.

A little further away is Playa de los Locos, a popular sandy beach with calm waters that is ideal for families. Do you prefer nature and tranquility? Then visit the elongated Playa de la Mata (beautiful dunes) or Cala Ferris, a small cove with palm trees that is excellent for snorkeling.

3. Visit the Museum of the Sea and Salt

Visit the Museo del Mar y de la Sal museum, which highlights Torrevieja’s history as a sea and salt mining center, with exhibits on the city’s maritime history and salt industry.

4. Walk along the salt lakes

Las Salinas de Torrevieja, these natural salt lakes are an important ecological and tourist area. Here you can enjoy a walk, bird watching and admire the unique pink color of the water.

5. Stroll along the promenade

Walk along Paseo Vistalegre past Torrevieja’s port, with restaurants, bars, stores and terraces, perfect for a leisurely stroll overlooking the sea.

6. Stroll through the park

enjoy nature in Parque de las Naciones. A beautiful park with lakes, fountains and green areas, ideal for walking, picnicking and relaxing.

7. Visit the water park

Visit Aquopolis, a water park with slides, pools and attractions for the whole family, ideal for a day of fun and refreshment during hot summer days.

8. Going to the market on Friday

You can go here to one of the largest markets in Spain(Mercadillo de Torrevieja). This market consists of more than 1,000 stalls and is held in a large area near all the sports fields in Torrevieja. You can go there for everything, think of clothes, souvenirs, but also fresh fruits and vegetables. This market is open from 07:00 to 14:00.

9. Visit the salt lakes in Santa Pola

Also called Salinas de Santa Pola, like the salt lakes in Torrevieja, is a beautiful natural area. It is an important wetland where many different species of birds live, including flamingos. You can also enjoy hiking or biking along the shores here and enjoy the tranquility and nature.

10. Walk around the inland water reservoir

Embalse de la Pedrera, located near Torremendo, is an impressive 1980s reservoir that immediately stands out for its bright blue water.

This reservoir is crucial to the regional water supply and, with its 61-meter-high dam, provides a spectacular backdrop. Although swimming is prohibited, the peaceful landscape is a popular destination for hikers and cyclists who want to enjoy the scenic views.

11. A day out in the surroundings of Torrevieja

  • Guardamar del Segura: (about 15 minutes drive) enjoy the vast sandy beaches and dunes of Guardamar. Walk through the Alfonso XIII Park, a beautiful dune area with lots of greenery. In the center you will find nice stores and restaurants;

  • Santa Pola: (about a 20-minute drive) Visit Santa Pola‘s lively port, where you can sample fresh seafood. Take a boat trip to the island of Tabarca, Spain’s first marine reserve, for snorkeling or hiking. The Castillo de Santa Pola is also worth a visit;

  • Orihuela Costa: (about 25 minutes drive) discover the different beaches and coves of Orihuela Costa, such as Playa Flamenca, La Zenia and Cabo Roig. There are plenty of opportunities for water sports and you will find cozy beach bars and restaurants. There are also several golf courses in the area;

  • Los Montesinos: (about a 15-minute drive inland) experience Spanish village life in Los Montesinos. Visit the central square with the church and enjoy a drink on one of the terraces. Nearby you will find salt lakes, such as Laguna Salada de Torrevieja, where you can spot flamingos;

  • Alicante: (about 50 minutes drive) discover the vibrant city of Alicante with its lively boulevard, the Explanada de España. Visit the Castillo de Santa Bárbara for stunning views of the city and coast. Stroll through the old neighborhood of Barrio de la Santa Cruz with its narrow streets and colorful houses;

  • Elche: (about a 30-minute drive) visit Elche and the Palmeral of Elche, a vast palm grove that is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Stroll through the Huerto del Cura, a beautiful botanical garden within the palm grove. The Basilica of Santa María is also an important monument in the city.

Visit Iglesia Arciprestal de la Inmaculada Concepción, Torrevieja’s main church, built in the 18th century in neoclassical style, with an impressive interior and a striking dome.
