1. To the beach in Villajoyosa

3. Visit the Valor Chocolate Museum

This museum is dedicated to the history and production of chocolate, an important part of Villajoyosa’s local economy. Visitors here can learn more about the artisanal production of chocolate and attend tastings.

4. Visit the La Barbera dels Aragonés museum

This is a very well-preserved mansion of the influential Aragonés family, decorated as a 19th-century mansion with a rich collection of furniture and international objects.

While a visit is well worthwhile, it is essential to check in advance the limited opening hours and the conditions for the mostly mandatory tour.

5. Visit the market on Thursdays

The Mercat Municipal la Villa Joiosa is held in the large parking lot on Avenida Carlos Llorca i Baus in the northern part of Villajoyosa. At this extensive market in Villajoyosa, you will find a wide variety of stalls selling clothes, bags, shoes and food items such as fresh fruits and vegetables. This market is open from 08:00 to 14:00.

6. Take a walk on the Peñón de Ifach in Calpe

This large rock rising from the sea provides a fantastic opportunity for a hike with breathtaking views of the coastline and hinterland.

7. Walk along the waterfalls of Algar

The Algar waterfalls are a popular destination for day trips. The waterfalls are about a 35-minute drive from Villajoyosa and offer refreshing baths and a beautiful walk through nature.

8. A day out in the Villajoyosa area

  • Altea: (about 30 minutes drive) Discover Altea, known for its white houses and the church’s striking blue dome. Stroll through the atmospheric old streets full of art galleries and enjoy the panoramic views from the Plaza de la Iglesia. You can also enjoy walking along the waterfront or cycling towards Albir;

  • Benidorm: (about 10 minutes by car) experience the vibrancy of Benidorm characterized by its many skyscrapers, vast sandy beaches and vibrant nightlife. There are numerous shows and theme parks for entertainment. Stroll along the promenade or enjoy the view from the Balcón del Mediterráneo;

  • Calpe: (about 30 minutes drive) be impressed by the Peñón de Ifach, the rock that towers over Calpe. Climb the rock for breathtaking views of the coast. Also explore the historic town center and enjoy fresh seafood in the harbor;

  • Guadalest: (about 40 minutes drive) visit the unique mountain village of El Castell de Guadalest, spectacularly situated above an azure blue reservoir. Guadalest’s castle is a must-see, as are the village’s many museums. The views of the surrounding countryside are breathtaking;

  • Jávea (Xàbia): (about 55 minutes drive) discover the varied landscape of mountains and beaches of Jávea. Visit the historic old town, the cozy port and the beach area. A drive to Cabo de la Nao, Spain’s easternmost point, is well worth it for the stunning views.

9. Stroll through Casco Antiguo (the Old Town).

The historic center of Villajoyosa is full of charm with its colorful cobbled streets, historic buildings and picturesque squares. Here you will also find the Church of the Holy Trinity and other architectural highlights.

10. Stroll along the fishing port

This colorful fishing port of Villajoyosa is a lively place where visitors can enjoy fresh seafood in the many restaurants along the quay. It is also fun to watch the fishing boats returning with their catch.

11. Take a look at Torre de Sant Josep

This ancient watchtower dates back to the 16th century and served as part of the defense system along the Costa Blanca coast. It is a striking landmark and also offers panoramic views of the surrounding area.
